The Shelter Cottage was designed for a beachfront or sound front lot requiring a 8x8 timber piling foundation. As the name implies, a large, sheltering roof provides ample covered entrance and "outdoor room" living spaces. Garage and storage areas occur under the house.

If desired, the plan could be adapted for a standard crawl-space foundation if elevated piling construction is not needed for your site (i.e. not in a flood plain area).
